The Conyers city council announced at the Wednesday evening session it would uphold the disciplinary action and demotion appealed by Conyers Police Department officer Todd Wood.

In a day-long administrative hearing held March 31, the council heard from several witnesses and experts, including City Manager Tony Lucas and the defendant then-Lt. Todd Wood, regarding disciplinary action for Wood that included a five-day suspension without pay and a demotion of two ranks.

The disciplinary action came after the Conyers Police Department did not achieve recertification at the end of February. Former Conyers Police Chief David Cathcart also resigned at that time.
