The Rockdale Swim League is still full steam ahead in hosting its 2013 county championship meet, despite having two of its four previous regular season meets canceled due to inclement weather.
The Rockdale Swim League, consisting of five Rockdale County teams and one Newton County team, has just six meets before the finale, with each team getting a chance to swim against a different competitor.
Competing teams are the Brentwood Barracudas, Covington Y, Deer Run Dolphins, Honey Creek Splash, Meadowbrook Marlins, and Westchester Lakes Wahoos, all with a common season-ending goal. That goal is the Johnson Park-hosted county meet.
This week, Covington swims at Brentwood, Honey Creek at Westchester and Deer Run at Meadowbrook on Monday.
Three days later, the swimmers take to the pool for year-long bragging rights, which the Covington Y has had for the last two years.
This year's county meet will be held at Johnson Park June 29. The 10-and-under age group will compete first, starting at 9 a.m., followed by the 11-and-over group, beginning at 1 p.m.
