BELLEVILLE, Ill.  — Authorities say a fourth person faces charges in connection with the stabbing death of a Georgia man whose body was dumped on the side of a road in southwestern Illinois and found by horseback riders.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/r9FT71 ) that 37-year-old Christopher Mays from near East St. Louis was charged Saturday with first-degree murder. A phone listing for Mays couldn't be located Sunday.

The body of Melvin Ashley Gregory of Conyers, Ga., was found Tuesday near Cahokia. He suffered stab wounds to his neck.

Twenty-six-year-old Dylon Baldwin of Caseyville and 32-year-old Billie Jo Carson of unincorporated St. Clair County are charged with first-degree murder. Gregory's girlfriend, Donna Mrkacek of Caseyville is charged with concealment of a homicidal death and two counts of obstructing justice.

All three pleaded not guilty.

Gregory, 37, previously faced numerous minor charges in Rockdale County and was in and out of jail since 1990.
