The Conyers Garden Club geared up last week getting ready for “Daisy, Fabulous at Forty.” It was the 40th year of the Redbud District Yellow Daisy Standard Flower Show at Stone Mountain Park. Horticulture was brought to the home of Susan Hicks for identification and tagging. The Club received 29 ribbons in all, out of 500 horticulture entries in the flower show. Martha Clay, Pam Hinesley, Susan Hicks, Kathy Williams and Linda Rudolph worked hard giving the club this honor. Susan Turner was Conyers Garden Club top honoree. She received a Blue Ribbon for her Table Design, as well as Table Artistry Award and the Award of Design Excellence, which is the top design of the 36 entries in all classes in the show.

In April 2011, Conyers Garden Club was chosen “Club of the Year” from Redbud District at the Garden Club of Georgia Inc. convention. Joyce Andrews received “The President’s Award” and the club received several awards for their work at the local, district and state levels. Susan Turner was installed as 3rd Vice President for the Garden Club of Georgia Inc. at the April State Convention, as well.

Conyers Garden Club met Sept. 13, 2011 at the home of Melinda Cowan. The hostesses were Kathy Williams and Susan Klem. The program was presented by Lorene Faulkenberry, the Redbud District Director. Ms. Faulkenberry’s program was “Go Green.” She gave us many ways in which we as individuals can conserve water and electricity. As each of us assume the responsibility of doing small things, it helps us become more aware of this need.
