Conyers First United Methodist will hold a silent auction March 22, 6:30 p.m., to raise money for its Stephen Ministry program.
The Stephen Ministry program sends lay persons, who have gone through extensive training, to give one-on-one attention and a caring ear to help people in the community outside the CFUMC congregation. Issues include any difficulty a person can go through to help them feel they’re not alone, which can last a year or more.
“In some cases, people we work with might also be seeing a counselor, but in many cases they’re not,” said Director of Lay Involvement Gail Haney. She emphasized the conversations are confidential.
Some of the $20,000 worth of silent auction items include vacation time at homes at the beach and mountains, antiques, gift baskets, gift certificates and more. Tickets are $12; includes dinner; deadline is Monday. For more information, call 770-483-4236.
