Assessment appeal deadline on July 6
Placeholder Image
Homeowners who received a property value assessment this year have until July 6 to file an appeal for any changes.

Approximately 11,000 notices were mailed in May. So far, about 500 appeals have been received by the Board of Assessors, an average rate according to Chief Tax Appraiser Lamar Sims.

A state law that went into effect in January of this year prohibits increases on property values except in cases where something was physically added to the property or the previous assessment was somehow incorrect.
