A Conyers woman landed in jail last week after calling to report a burglary that she allegedly committed herself.

Melissa Ann McCoy, 37, called the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office to report seeing two men carrying large bags away from her neighbor's residence in Bradford Estates the morning of September 10.

Investigators became suspicious of McCoy's story and, after obtaining a search warrant of her residence, located numerous items including jewelry, medicine, household cleaning supplies, a laptop and an iPod belonging to the neighbor.

The victim reported the lock on her door had been broken so she usually secured the door with a wooden stick.

McCoy was arrested on September 27 and charged with burglary. In all the items stolen were valued at over $3,000.
