This holiday season make sure you leave a little wiggle room in your budget to support a worthy cause. Phoenix Pass offers transitional housing options for single moms and children with nowhere else to go. And now the non-profit needs the community's help to give even more families a safe and stable environment to get back on their feet.
This year, they received a large grant from an anonymous Atlanta foundation that will allow them to double in size, adding eight additional apartment buildings.
But, the project requires $50,000 more before they can begin construction, and Phoenix Pass is hoping to raise the remaining money from the community.
"We have been overwhelmed with the support for the Capital Campaign to expand our facilities and services," said Phoenix Pass Director Marcie Howington. "We are over half way there, but we still need a lot of help."
"The women who come to us have experienced trauma and they just need help and time getting back on their feet. Because of the support from this community, we've been able to successfully provide safe housing, programming, and one-on-one coaching to help them re-establish self-sufficiency."
Even if you are unable to donate money, you can still assist the project through the many phases of construction. Community support is vital to getting this new project underway. The entire program is funded by donations from foundations, individuals, businesses, civic organizations, and churches.

By providing a rent free apartment of their very own to these families for up to two years, Phoenix Pass helps enable participants to get a firm personal and financial foundation before they tackle the next phase of their lives. The program also requires those who benefit to take classes and receive personal coaching regarding financial stability, job skills, family management, education, and spiritual growth. Residents are required to save 30 percent of their income for future use. The incredibly high accountability rate allows for an incredibly high success rate. Director Marcie Howington proudly reports that after people establish themselves and move on from Phoenix Pass, they enjoy returning and giving back to the community of moms and children and inspiring them to persevere. Countless success stories have come out of Phoenix Pass, and the past residents willingness to return and encourage current residents proves just how influential the program can be for participants.
