A ceremony honoring first responders and those who lost their lives in 9/11, as well as military personnel serving overseas, will be held Sept. 11, from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the American Legion Post 77 at 674 Legion Road.

Participants include the Rockdale County Fire and Rescue Department, National EMS, Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, the American Legion Honor Guard and Newton High School band, and the veterans unit of the Georgia Department of Labor’s Covington Career Center.

Keynote speakers include Newton County Sheriff Ezell Brown and Rockdale County Fire and Rescue Interim Chief Dan Morgan.
