IN BRIEF: The Board of Commissioners approved the approximately $58.2 million 2014 budget on Wednesday in a 2-1 vote. The budget would require dipping into the county's reserves by about $5.2 million, slightly less than initially proposed. Commissioner JaNice Van Ness, who voted against the second read of the general fund budget, noted that the proposed cut of outsourcing HR services for a savings of about $424,000 was not included in this budget draft.
