The West Street area of the city has been deteriorating aesthetically and presenting problems for law enforcement for years. Last year a man shot four others, killing one, over a dice game at a home on West Street.
Finally the residents of this area - led by neighbors, pastors, investors and police - have said "enough is enough."
Through their efforts a neighborhood watch has been set up; we are glad that the majority of the residents recognize that they are the majority and with a bit of perserverance and courage can clean up this neighborhood.
The people causing the problems on West Street have overstayed their welcome and we are glad to see residents dedicated to showing them the door.
