Until recently, driving through the quaint town of Porterdale was the equivalent of driving in the Grand Prix to some drivers.
It is fortunate no one has been killed.
The city has crosswalks, but those might as well have been bull's eyes as many of the visitors on Main Street, walked across in fear for their lives.
Recently, the city installed two radar signs alerting drivers to the city speed near the mill village of 25 m.p.h.
Now the town policemen need to issue tickets for abusers of this speed limit.
If you have ever driven through our neighbor Social Circle, you know better than to speed.
City councilman Robert Foxworth spent a year trying to get these signs installed; we appreciate his determination and we are sure the residents and visitors to Porterdale feel the same as we do.
