“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
-Nelson Mandela
This week and for the next few weeks, we are going to use this space to salute some of our future leaders who, through their efforts, have earned special scholarships or awards that will allow them to continue their education and put themselves in a position to be our best hope for a continued better America.
We salute Newton High School senior Torri Cofield who received a $20,000 Horatio Alger scholarship.
Cofield, according to her principal Craig Lockhart, is an all-around student, and we agree. You can read about Cofield’s accomplishment at CovNews.com.
In addition to Cofield, five more NHS seniors were awarded up to $500,000 in full scholarships to help them in their pursuit of a post secondary education.
We proudly salute Imari Daniels, Ali Pujani, Akila Triggs, Alex Grady and Steven Lawson.
We believe the majority of our children here in Newton County are bright, driven and full of promise.
It’s up to all of us who have been in their shoes to encourage and help them realize their greatest potential in life.
