Our thoughts...Golf for good

For 82 years the Kiwanis Club of Covington has held up the club's mission "to serve the children of the world."
The word Kiwanis was derived from an American Indian word meaning "to share." The Covington Kiwanians have shared much throughout the club's history.

On Thursday, Sept. 17, the Kiwanis Club will sponsor The Richard Rawlins Golf Classic at the Oaks Golf Course. Lunch and registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

The tournament bears the namesake of a very dear club member who passed away in February. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the construction of a Newton County Miracle Field as well as the Newton County Education Foundation.

Fees are only $100 for individual players or $500 for a four-person corporate team and sponsorship of two holes. All fees include lunch, green fees and cart fees. If you or your business would like to sponsor a beverage cart, the cost is $300.

Prizes will be given for the first, second and third place teams, most accurate drive and closest to the pin. If you make a hole-in-one, you'll win a car.

Call Ken Wynne at (678) 786-6399 to register. By doing so you are helping local Kiwanians on their mission of serving children - children in our own community.
