Our thoughts...Bless you too

Monday night the Oxford City Council in their opening invocation led by Hoyt Oliver asked the "Guiding Spirit" to forgive us for criticizing their decision to waste the tax dollars of the good citizens of Oxford on expensive furniture from an out-of-town vendor.

We are pleased to see that the council still says a prayer to start their meetings. Political correctness these days prevents many councils and boards across the country from appealing to a higher power for guidance.

The members of this editorial board appreciate being included in the council's prayers. We seek the Good Lord's blessings any time and from whomever we can get them.

Now, we are going to return the favor: "Dear Lord, please forgive the gang of five that voted to squander Oxford's citizens' money because they are wasteful, obstinate and rancorous. Amen."

Our Thoughts: Remembering Nancy VanKleeck

The Covington News would like to take a moment to remember Mrs. Nancy VanKleeck. We became acquainted with her a few years back while she was asking for information about the jail log. She had a ministry in which she would write letters to inmates telling them about Jesus. She was able to write over 11,000 letters. She was a true woman of character. We will miss her.
