Our Thoughts... Walton what?
Placeholder Image

Recently some representatives of the newly formed Walton One appeared before the Social Circle City Council to request funds to the tune of $5,000 and council support their project.

Walton One is a group of interested citizens who feel they can coordinate all the cities in Walton County to work together in order to create new business or to attract other worthwhile projects for the county.

On paper this sounds like a great idea, but considering the long history that Social Circle has endured of receiving the short end of the stick on other projects done in Walton County, we would caution the city fathers of Social Circle to continue examine this project carefully.

We recommend that the city agree to support this project after receiving a written promise of future action for the city’s benefit and not to give any money to the project until it has proven that it can indeed be of service to the residents of Social Circle.

Our Thoughts: Remembering Nancy VanKleeck

The Covington News would like to take a moment to remember Mrs. Nancy VanKleeck. We became acquainted with her a few years back while she was asking for information about the jail log. She had a ministry in which she would write letters to inmates telling them about Jesus. She was able to write over 11,000 letters. She was a true woman of character. We will miss her.
