From reports we’ve read and what folks tell us, our churches, usually the beacon of light and hope during tough economic times, are feeling the money pinch too. That is why we were more than pleased to see members of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd donate $2,000 to our local Rotary club, to help the Rotarians spread Christmas cheer to as many families as possible. Rotary this year will help 1,015 local families. The Church of the Good Shepherd raised this money through dinners and concerts. The parishioners could have kept that money and used it for their own church and charities, and if they did so, no one would have blamed them. But they chose to share their earned blessings with our community. We salute the Church of the Good Shepherd and the community folks who bought their dinners and attended their concerts. It is this type of unselfish giving that will keep our community strong, even through the darkest of times
