Our Thoughts... A great conductor

T.K. Adams is a special man. For the past 50 years he has spent his life making other people, both young and old, better because they have had the opportunity to be touched by his kindness and dedication.

For 36 of those 50 years he was instrumental in providing a positive role model to the young people of our community. For the past 15 years, through his efforts in conducting the Newton County Community Band, he has touched the lives of thousands of citizens of our community who have enjoyed the free live performances of the band.

T.K. would tell you it’s about the band; the truth is that he is the band.

Don’t misunderstand what we just said. There are many talented community folks who give of their time to be in the band, but the heart and soul of the band is T.K. Adams himself.

The other love affairs of T.K.’s life are his wife of 50 years, Louise, a well loved and respected educator and his son T.K. Jr., who in his own right is a noted musician.

This Monday, the T.K. Adams Newton County Community Band will be performing at Eastside High School. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

One of the songs performed will be "Ava Maria" — dedicated to Ms. Louise.

The dedication is a great honor for a good woman from a great man. It should be enjoyed by a grateful community.
