With election season around the corner, we encourage all Newton County and Covington residents to get to know the candidates.

There is no better way to do that than this Saturday at a forum offering a chance to meet and greet all of the candidates running for federal, state and local offices.

The newly reactivated Newton County Voter's League is holding the forum starting at 9 a.m. at the Historic County Courthouse located in downtown Covington.

According to Flemmie Pitts, candidates for congressional districts 4 and 10, state senator, state representatives, superior court judge and sheriff will speak from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.

From 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., the county chairman, board of commissioners, school board and coroner candidates will speak.

The forum will be a great chance to get to know the people who will soon be elected by you and your peers.
