The Covington City election is complete, and thankfully the voters of Covington selected the right person for mayor. While Ronnie Johnston is a newcomer to our community, we have found him to be bright, thoughtful and a good communicator.

We have had a contentious past year from the elected leadership of our city; it is the time for compromise that will open the door to economic growth.

On the council, the voters of the city reelected councilmen Keith Dalton and Mike Whatley. We encourage both councilman to continue to push for their ideas and plans for the future. We ask them to work with the new leader and the council in a more productive and less contentious fashion.

We wish the very best for all three of these gentlemen. Your decisions and leadership now will set the path for future generations of Covington residents.
