There is nothing like an old-fashioned Christmas parade to boost holiday spirits.
This past weekend, in spite of some miserable weather, there were parades in Covington and Porterdale. From all reports, both were delightful.
The Covington parade is sponsored by the Lions Club and Main Street Covington. Much credit has to go to the Lions Club, which despite a dwindling membership like many other civic organizations, still finds a way to present this fun parade.
This year the route was a little different, and some folks were inconvenienced by blocked roads.
But seeing families out together, and seeing small children who had that twinkle in their eyes when old St. Nick passed by, made it all worthwhile.
Again, thanks to the Lions, the Main Street program, and city police and firefighters for giving us a little joy in this sometimes bleak world.
