Bad business

The Obama administration's theme for the past three and a half years has been to squeeze the rich for more tax revenue to support the 49 percent of potential American taxpayers who pay no taxes.

Another major contributor to the tax base in this country is our small business base. The U.S. is dotted with people who have poured their heart, sweat and tears into their personal business, and many of them have failed with the main culprit being the struggling economy.

Many of those people then raised themselves up, dusted themselves off and started over again or carried on with life with no assistance from the government.

Last week, the president said in a speech "If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."

Of all the things the flubs the president has made during his presidency, we consider the worst and most shameful.

Entrepreneurs have been and continue to be the base of this county's wealth and prosperity and to throw this group of people under the bus to push the big government agenda Obama believes in is destructive to this country.

Our Thoughts: Remembering Nancy VanKleeck

The Covington News would like to take a moment to remember Mrs. Nancy VanKleeck. We became acquainted with her a few years back while she was asking for information about the jail log. She had a ministry in which she would write letters to inmates telling them about Jesus. She was able to write over 11,000 letters. She was a true woman of character. We will miss her.
