A need to stand up

If you are reading this and are a part of what has been called the "Greatest Generation,’’ or if you are reading this and are considered part of the "baby boomer generation," you must think that the world has turned upside-down.

We have a president who openly lies and who is snorkeling in Hawaii while his signature health plan is systematically destroying the best health care in the world.

In California, the state Supreme Court has ruled that it is OK for an illegal alien to be certified as a lawyer and then allowed to practice law.

Christ has been taken out of Christmas by not only the federal government, but also by local municipalities and school districts throughout the land, in part because a minority of people have determined that we might insult Muslims or some other religious group.

Communities ban the flying of the American flag on a regular basis.

A major newspaper, The New York Times, calls one of the worst traitors of all time, Richard Snowden, a hero and asks us to treat him as such.

You can’t say what’s on your mind in public for fear of insulting someone; these thoughts and many more not mentioned are just a few freedoms we have lost in the past 15 years.

How do we fight this?

One way is to get off your tushes and find candidates for office who support what you believe in. Once you find such candidates, work for their election and vote for them.

You can also insist that elected officials and courts follow the Constitution and the will of the people who appointed or elected them .

You can start by getting involved in shutting down groups that are insisting that we change every aspect of our lives to accommodate their needs.

It’s not too late to save our country; it’s the beginning of a new year. With your help, the majority can begin to control the country again.
