William C. Johnston, 84, of Covington, passed away April 29, 2011, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.  Mr. Johnston served in the U.S. Army, worked as a forklift driver at Ace Hardware in Conyers, and at the Army Distribution Center in Conley.  He enjoyed fishing, storytelling, and spending time with his church family at Lovejoy United Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband, father and friend to many. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sara Frances (Dial) Johnston, daughter, Debbie Johnston, and parents, Lurline and George W. Johnston. 

Mr. Johnston is survived by his nephews and niece-in-law, Danny and Sarah H. Standard of Oxford, George C. Hawk, Charles R. Dial, both of Covington; niece, Ruby Jean Bates of Covington; and a cousin, L.D. Johnston of Covington.

Funeral Services for Mr. Johnston will be held Monday, May 2, 2011, 1:00 PM, at Lovejoy United Methodist Church, with Rev. Richard Gravitt officiating, and interment following in Lovejoy Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church Monday, May 2, 2011 from 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lovejoy United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 12835 Highway 36, Covington, GA  30014.
