Sylvester Cheatham Jr. of Covington died July 24 at his residence. He was born in 1927 in Orlando, Fla., to Sylvester and Luella Windsor Windsor Cheatham Sr. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed playing poker, fishing and watching NASCAR. He liked all sports especisally baseball and the Braves. He was a lifelong member of the VFW.

Mr. Cheatham Jr. is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Sylvia Cheatham; daughter Kathy C. Davis of Covington; son Charles R. Cheatham of Covington; son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Kim Cheatham of Conyers; grandchildren Susan Waits, Brad Davis, Lindsay Cheatham, Alyx Cheatham, Mackenzie Cheatham, Kasey Davis; great-grandchildren Katelyn Waits, Jaelyn and Darnell Robinson and Asa Cheatham.
