Mrs. Sarah A. Hooten of Covington passed away on January 15, 2010 at the age of 93.  She was born in Rockdale County to the late Frank C. and Sadie Mae Chandler Almand and was the widow of the late A. R. “Cooter” Hooten. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cooking and talking with family and friends.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 32, and was an Elkadette at  the Elks Lodge # 1806. Mrs. Hooten is preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Patricia Hooten and sister, Annie Lura Young.  Mrs. Hooten is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, R.M. and Jean Hooten, Dennis R. and Judy M. Hooten; sister and brother-in-law, Maggie and Bill Rainey; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Hattie Almand all of Covington; 4 grandchildren, Kevin and Staci Hooten, Trina Hooten Brennan, Shawn Hooten Loftin and Ricky Loftin, Trista Hooten Young; 7 great-grandchildren, Trey Harper, Blake Hooten, Tripp Loftin, Rainey Loftin, Bradley Brennan, Raleigh Loftin, Cotton Young.  Funeral Services for Mrs. Hooten will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at 3:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Covington with Rev. William B. Wade  and Rev. Louly F. Hay officiating with interment following in Covington City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 1169 Clark Street, SW, Covington, Georgia 30014.
