Sara Frances "Sally" Tucker, 90, of Athens, formerly of Commerce, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2015.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home, 3195 Atlanta Highway, Athens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Born in Hillsboro, Ga., on June 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late C.G. and Euel Henderson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Tucker.
Mrs. Tucker graduated from Covington High School and Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She taught home economics at Cedartown and Commerce high schools for several years. She then opened Tucker’s Little Shop, a children’s clothing boutique.
She and her husband owned a popular retail store, Tucker’s Men’s Wear, in Commerce for more than 30 years.
While she loved all of her jobs, her true passion was her family.
A loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Tucker made her home and raised her family in Commerce before residing at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living in Athens for the past several years.
She is survived by her children Tim Tucker of Sautee, Tina Alexander of Atlanta, Terri Tucker of Watkinsville and Tricia Enos of John’s Creek; her daughter-in-law Kathy Tucker and sons-in-law Jim Alexander and Mitch Enos; her grandchildren Ansley and Sydney Tucker; Tucker Alexander; and Wade, Courtney and Suzanne Enos.
In addition, she is survived by a treasured sister, Mary Claude Webb of Covington, and beloved nieces and nephews.
