Sallie M. King of Porterdale, passed away November 18, 2010, at the age of 76. Mrs. King was born in Griffin, Georgia, to the late Earl and Sarah Lee (Christian) Harper. She was affiliated with the Church of Christ, and was a very strong, Christian believer in Jesus Christ. Mrs. King retired from Covington Manor Nursing Home, in 2001, but returned to housekeeping because she loved her work and missed her friends. She enjoyed cooking and walking, but most important to her was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren – they were the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Alton King; and her brothers, James Harper, Lewis Harper, Jack Harper, Jimmy Harper. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda King of Porterdale; sons and daughters-in-law, Darryl S. and Dottie King of Central, SC, Terry and Patricia King of Oxford; grandchildren, Jason King, Amanda King, Brian King, Steven King, Terry King, Jr., Sabrina King, Kevin Howard, Mandy Lemke, Jennifer Hooten, Adam Hooten; great-grandchildren, Alainah Mosley, Peighton Rowe, Kaleb Strickland, Christopher Howard, Garion Howard, Levi Hooten, Braden Sorrels; brother, Johnny L. Harper of Newborn. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, Friday, November 19, 2010, from 5-8 PM.
