Mr. Ricky Ricardo Gibbs died unexpectedly July 3. He was born in 1988 in Covington to Sandra Lawrence and Ricky Floyd Gibbs. Affectionately called "Boomer," he grew up in Newton County and graduated from Eastside High School in 2007. He was very athletic, playing football at Indian Creek Middle School and basketball at Eastside High School. After graduation, Mr. Gibbs worked at 84 Lumber Company and the Shoe Show. During his spare time, he enjoyed playing basketball. A very fun-loving person, he loved to dance and listen to music. He was a very loving, affectionate person who was a joy to be around. His wonderful sense of humor and out-going personality won him many friends. He will be greatly missed.


Surviving are father Ricky Floyd Gibbs; mother Sandra Lawrence; sister Shamiya L. Gibbs; brother Chris Lawrence; a special aunt Shunta Gibbs; a special uncle Terry Gibbs Sr.; aunt Valerie Lawrence; uncles James Avery and Willie Shy; a very devoted friend Pat Corbisiero; a very special cousin Terry Gibbs Jr.; and a host of great aunts and great uncles, other loving relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 12, at 4 p.m at Young Memorial Chapel in Covington with the Rev. Terry Shepherd officiating assisted by Pastor Clara Lett and Minister Cynthia Marks.
