Rella Mae Allen of Covington, passed away December 7, 2008, at the age of 89. A lifelong resident of Newton County and faithful member of Voice of Pentecost, she enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, and cooking. Mrs. Allen was a former employee of Bibb Manufacturing Co. She loved all her family, and enjoyed sending cards to her family and friends. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Otis L. Allen; daughter, Brenda Allen; grandson, Carl Anthony Allen; parents, Burt and Rachel Walker Grier. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce A. and Don Mason; son and daughter-in-law, C.L. (Buddy) and Judy Allen all of Covington; grandchildren, Joy Clive, David Allen, Amy Mason, Ryan Mason, Shane Allen, Doug Allen, Emily Mills; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Irene Holland of Oxford; sister-in-law, Mandy Allen of Winder; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Allen were held Tuesday, December 9, 2008, 2:00 PM, Voice of Pentecost, 4648 Salem Rd. Covington, with David Allen, Heath Allen, and Bobby Allen officiating, and interment followed in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
