Rebecca "Becky" Alexander, 88, of Covington, died Sept. 14. Mr. and Mrs. Alexander were the owners of Covington Jewelry and Alexander Memorials. She served as the director of food services for the Newton County School System. Her cinnamon rolls and chili were legendary with school children. She was a member of the Pilot Club and the Eastern Star. She loved her family. She loved to cook and also enjoyed traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents William Bryant and Lillie (Thomas) Dobbs; and her son Tommy Alexander.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in law Jim and Barbara Alexander of Covington, Fred and Linda Alexander of Conyers; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Jenny Dobbs of Covington, sister Peggy Long of Orlando, Fla.; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services for Mrs. Alexander will be held today, Sept. 16, at the city of Covington Cemetery with Rev. Douglas Gilreath, officiating. Donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1113 Conyers Street, in Covington in lieu of flowers.
