Nesbit L. Thompson of Monticello, passed away July 16, 2010, at the age of 68. He was an active member of Living Waters Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Thompson enjoyed camping and watching Nascar, and was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. He showed his black Chevrolet, and won several trophies at the car shows he attended. He also loved attending southern gospel music festivals, and when he was younger sang bass with his mother and sister on a Winder radio station. Mr. Thompson loved his family, and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest "Ray" and Daisy (Atha) Thompson. Survivors include his loving wife, Rosemary D. Thompson of Monticello; children, Donna Gail (Freddie) White, Wanda Smith, all of Tifton, Angie (Randy) Kimbrell, Shane (Debra) Colbert, Sherri Anglin, all of Covington, Tracy (Bill) Phillips of Kennesaw; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dianne (Randall) Nash of Winder, Peggy Miller, Bonnie Fox, both of Covington; brothers, Ernest (Suellen) Thompson of Jonesboro, Cecil (Glenda) Thompson of Blairsville, Lynward (Lynn) Thompson of Covington, Stanley Thompson of McDonough, Waymond Thompson of Stone Mountain, Kenneth Thompson of Covington; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Thompson will be held Monday, July 19, 2010, 11:00 AM, at Living Waters Baptist Church, with Rev. Joe Brock and Rev. JB Leachman officiating, and interment following in Cornish Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, Sunday, July 18, from 5-8 PM.
