Ms. Mary Jane Dixon, 76, a lifelong resident of the Starrsville Community passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019.  

She was born April 30, 1942, to Dennis B. and Sarah Anderson Dixon who have preceded her death.  Ms. Dixon was a school teacher before retiring and becoming the caregiver for her parents and the caretaker of the family farm.  She was a longtime member of Starrsville United Methodist Church and an active and supportive member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  Ms. Dixon was also a historian of Newton County and provided in great detail the history of Newton County for several publications and for the revitalization of numerous historical landmarks around the county.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Denny Dixon.  

Ms. Dixon is survived by her cousins Ellen King of Covington, Carole King Yoho (Dave), of Vienna, Virginia, Wayne Dixon, of North Carolina, and Alice Dixon, of Virginia along with numerous other family and close friends.

Graveside services for Ms. Dixon will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 at Belcher-Anderson Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Gatter officiating.  The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home from noon to 1:30 p.m. prior to the procession to the cemetery.  J.C.
