Mrs. Hilma D. Harwell, age 92, of Covington passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014. She was born April 29, 1922 in Dawson, Georgia to the late Edward and Jeffie Daniel. Mrs. Harwell was a longtime member of the Covington First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed needlework and was a den mother for her sons Cub Scout troop. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mrs. Harwell was a Georgia Bulldog and a Georgia Tech fan supporting her son and her grandson’s Alma Maters. Mrs. Harwell was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Fred M. Harwell, Sr. and is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; Fred M. Harwell, Jr. and his wife Harriet of Covington and O. Daniel Harwell and his wife Kathleen Fletcher of Punta Gorda, Florida. She is also survived by her grandson; Zachary Malone Harwell and his wife Alicia of Atlanta and her great grandchildren; Gwendoline and Daniel Harwell along with numerous other family and close friends.
Graveside services for Mrs. Harwell will be held at 11 o’clock Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Covington City Cemetery with Reverend Doctor Douglas Gilreath and Revered Jan McCoy officiating. The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the Covington First United Methodist Church Food Pantry in honor of Mrs. Hilma Harwell. J.C.
