Mrs. Donna Machtolff, 68, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018. She was born Dec. 18, 1949 in Atlanta. Donna grew up in Covington and graduated from Newton County High School and also graduated from DeKalb Technical College. She was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. Mrs. Machtolff was preceded in death by her father Floyd Johnson and is survived by her husband John Machtolff, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, her sons John Paul Machtolff (Melissa), of Cary, North Carolina and Aaron David Machtolff, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, her mother Grace Johnson of Covington, her grandchildren Jake and Evan Machtolff of Cary her brother Tony Johnson (Mary Alice), of Covington, her niece Misty Mayo (Daniel), her nephew Chris Johnson (Mandy) along with many other family and close friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Machtolff were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Leah Cunningham officiating. Interment followed at Gibson Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service. J.C.
