Mrs. Cheryl M. Fincher of Covington passed away October 23, 2010 at Emory University Hospital. She was born in Winder, Ga. to the late William Earl and Freddie Ruth Wade McElroy. Cheryl was a true fighter and together with her deep love of life and strong faith in God she became a 24 year survivor of breast cancer. She was a strong advocate for breast cancer awareness. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and even up until the end her family always came first in her life. Cheryl loved music and was a former choir director at Red Oak United Methodist Church. She and her husband Carroll are members of Eastridge Community Church where she was a group leader of “Celebrate Recovery”. She was a wonderful friend and will be greatly missed. Cheryl is survived by her husband of 42 years T. Carroll Fincher of Covington, sons and daughters in law Mike & Shona Fincher of Covington and Brad & Sandra Fincher of Grayson, her sister Kathy Morrison of Monroe, grandchildren Morgan Fincher, Drew Fincher and Will Fincher and nephews Tyler & Jessie Morrison. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Bill McElroy who passed away in 1996. The funeral service for Cheryl will be held on Tuesday October 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Eastridge Community Church with Pastor Brad Rutledge officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. Her family would greatly appreciate contributions to the American Cancer Society.
