Mrs. Betty Massey, 88, of Covington, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018.
She was born March 24, 1930, in Covington and grew up in Oxford. Mrs. Massey worked for McGregor, C.R. Bard and Newton County High School. She was a wonderful cook and an avid reader; she enjoyed crossword puzzles and gardening. Methodist by faith, Mrs. Massey was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and attended North Covington United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pate Massey, and her parents, J.P. and Janie Robinson.
Mrs. Massey is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Larry Allen; her sons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Debbie Massey, and Richard Massey, all of Covington; her grandchildren Blane Allen and Kristi and Brad Williams; her great grandchildren, Greer Allen, Claire Allen, Hayden Williams and Baylee Williams; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Massey began at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. William B. Wade Jr. officiating.
The family received friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. The family would like to express its thanks to the staff of both The Benton House and Abbey Hospice for the exceptional care provided to their mother.
