Mrs. Ann McKellar Bouchillon, 73, of Covington, died April 7, 2017 at home with her family. Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church of Covington. The Reverend Doctor William B. Wade, Jr. will officiate. Visitation will follow the service in the Church fellowship hall. J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home of Covington is in charge of the arrangements.
Ann was born on Sept. 24, 1943 in Atlanta to the late June Lawson and Edward Earl McKellar. She was a graduate of College Park High School and the University of Georgia where she earned a B.S. in Education in 1965. Ann taught English and literature for several years during the 1960's. Although Ann had a love for literature, her passion was gardening. She dug in the dirt for many years at Green Hill Nursery in Covington, alongside her dear friends Cecil and Nancy Brown.
In addition to being a full time mother, Ann was a passionate volunteer in the Covington and Newton County communities. She was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Covington where she was an Elder, taught Sunday School for countless years, served as an advisor for the youth program, and was a member of the chancel choir, the Presbyterian Women Coordinating Team, and the Elizabeth Ann Circle. Ann also served on the Board of Directors for the First Presbyterian Early Learning Center. As an avid reader and lover of all books, Ann was a member of the Newton County Friends of the Library where she visited frequently. When Ann was not at church or the library, you could find her in her beautiful yard, quite often in bare feet.
Ann is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jerry Bouchillon, their daughters, Lauri (Mark) Irvin and Juli Bouchillon, their two granddaughters, Ann Margaret Irvin and Caroline McKellar Irvin, her brother, Patrick (Mary Sue) McKellar, her sister-in-law, Kathryn Bouchillon, nieces Lisa (Matt) Bledsoe and Kimberley (Scott) Steigerwald, nephews William (Kathy) C. Bouchillon III and Luther (Heidi) Bouchillon, as well as several great nieces and nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
