Mr. Scott Simons, age 53 of Kennesaw formerly of Covington passed away August 19, 2011.  He was born in Atlanta, GA on December 15, 1957 to the late Jim Simons and Clarice King Simons who survives him.  Scott was a 1976 Graduate of Newton County High School where he was an All State Offensive Linemen.  After high school Scott went on to play football for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets playing all four years as center.  He was a great sports fan and enjoyed basketball and loved playing golf.  Scott was employed for 23 years with United Distributors in Atlanta.  He was preceded in death by his sister Gaye Pendergrass.

 

Scott is survived by his Mother Clarice Simons of Covington, Son Justin Simons of Conyers, his Sister and Brother-in-law Kim and Luke Cook of Covington, 2 Grandchildren Destiny and Kylie Simons.  He is also survived by nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, other family and close friends.

 

Memorial services for Mr. Simons will be held at 11 O’clock Monday, August 22, 2011 from the Chapel of Harwell Funeral Home with Mr. David Simpson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00am until 11:00am on Monday, August 22, 2011 prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Camp Twin Lakes, 600 Means Street, NW Suite 110 Atlanta, GA 30318.  This is a network of camps for children with severe illness, disabilities and challenges that was very special to Scott.  J.
