Oliver “Lonnie” Hunter, III, 75, of Oxford passed away Monday, August 2, 2016. He was born in Atlanta on June 4, 1941. Lonnie loved his family, his church and antique cars. He and his wife of 51 years are members of the First Baptist Church of Covington. Hunter served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his father Oliver Hunter, Jr.

Hunter is survived by his wife, Karen Hunter; his sons and daughters-in-law; Lonnie and Alison Hunter of Barnesville and Brian and Krista Hunter of Lawrenceville; his daughter, Laura Hunter of Parker, Colorado; his grandchildren, Natalie, Kate and Brent Hunter; his mother, Jeannette Hunter of Oxford along with his sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Charles Gailey of Commerce and many nieces, nephews other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Hunter will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Covington with Dr. Cody McNutt officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016.
