Martha Ann Mahan of Social Circle passed away July 16, 2014, at the age of 81. A very dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of Covington and the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class, she was also a member and past president of the Callie Cohen Circle of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Mahan enjoyed traveling and will be remembered for her wonderful cooking.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Fred M. Mahan of Social Circle; sons and daughters-in-law, Alex and Maureen Haydon of Dacula, Georgia, Jesse and Suk Haydon of Chesapeake, Virginia, Keith and Deborah Haydon of Quincy, Illinois, Leland Haydon of Grove City, Ohio; Fred’s children and their spouses, Randy Mahan of Decatur, Georgia, Lee and Sam Letsinger of Knoxville, Tennessee, Mary Lynn “Lynnie” and Steve Sylvester of Dahlonega, Georgia; grandchildren, Erik Haydon, Katie Spillers, Holly Haydon, Hunter Haydon, Shelby Ann Haydon; Fred’s grandchildren, Katie Letsinger, Sean Letsinger, Rae Lynn Sylvester, Cameron Sylvester; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lee and Phillip Jackson of Paris, Kentucky; nieces, Kathy Lovell of Lexington, Kentucky, and Karen Linville of Paris, Kentucky.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Mahan will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014, 11 a.m., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Jan McCoy officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, July 18, from 6 – 8 p.m. Flowers are accepted or contributions in her memory may be made to Callie Cohen Circle, Covington First United Methodist Church, 1113 Conyers Street, Covington, Georgia 30014.
