Mike Fondren, age 59, of Covington passed away December 11, 2014. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 21, 1955 to the late James Dolphus and Audrey Gardner Fondren. Mike was the owner of 3rd Base Sports Bar and Grill on Salem Road. He was enjoyed fishing and camping and loved spending time with his grandchildren and family and his 3rd Base family. Mike retired from Steven’s Graphics. He was preceded in death by his son Keith Fondren in 2011.
Mr. Fondren is survived by his wife Denise Fondren of Covington, his daughters; April Fondren and Rebecca Fondren both of Covington his granddaughters; Lexi, Alyssa and Alaya Cruz and his “Running Buddy” and only grandson Derek Cruz along with his sister Debbie Davie of Jonesboro and his brother and sister-in-law Curtis and Debbie Fondren of Hampton and his In-Laws L.B. and Jesse Reichert of Jonesboro. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends including his 3rd Base family who he loved dearly.
Funeral services for Mr. Fondren will be held at 2 o’clock Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Mills officiating. Interment will follow at New Covington Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2pm until 4pm on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the funeral home. Following the interment there will be a gathering at 3rd Base Sports Bar, 2174 Salem Road, Conyers, GA 30013. J.C.
