Mrs. Mary Jo Almand Hampton, 90 of Covington died May 31, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Hampton was born in Rockdale County to the late John Zack and Myrtle Sims Almand. She attended Georgia Tech and Georgia State College for Women. During World War II she repaired rotary aircraft engines in Warner Robbins, Ga. and developed a technique to repair these engines quicker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years, William Dale Hampton, Sr., brothers Max Almand and Jake Almand, sisters Beth Almand Tuggle and Pie Almand Wycoff.  She is survived by her sons and daughters in law William Dale and Geneva Hampton, Jr., Thomas Anthony and Joan Wilson Hampton, Joe Sims and Diane Hampton, grandchildren Jennifer and Russell Towns, Alia and Marcel Moreno, Eric Wade Hampton, Brooke and Tom Jeffries, great grandchildren Thomas Moreno, Dante Moreno, Julia Diane Towns and Connor Joseph Towns.  Funeral services for Mrs. Hampton will be held on Thursday June 3, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Chaplain Allen Tarr officiating. Interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens in Conyers. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: Susan G. Komen for the Cure
