Markus Dean Wilson, 47, of Covington, died Aug. 5, at Kindred Hospital in Atlanta. Mr. Wilson was born in Atlanta and moved to Covington in 1971. He was a member of the Gospel Mission Church in Covington. Before his disability, Markus worked with the Walker and Walker Construction Company. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his father Johnnie William Wilson Sr., brother Johnnie Wilson Jr. and sister Janet M. Wilson.

He is survived by his mother Doris Marie Whitley Wilson of Shady Dale; brothers and sister-in-law Michael G. Sr. and Shirley Wilson of Mansfield, Phillip A. Wilson of Covington; sisters and brother-in-law Nancy J. and Randy Harper of Shady Dale, Deborah A. Spriggs of Shady Dale; 16 nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 9 at the Gospel Mission Church, 755 Almon Road, Covington. Burial will be held in Williams Payne Cemetery, Seven Island Road, Monticello. Pastor Roger W. Whitley will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Phillip Wilson, Randy Harper, Randall Harper, Josh Harper, Mike Wilson, and Scott Wilson. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8,  at Jordan Funeral Home, Monticello. The family suggests donations to the Gospel Mission Church Building Fund, PO Box 146, Covington, Ga. 30015.
