Marion Antoinette Baker was born on July 25, 1940, to the late James Oliver and Marion Zackary in Covington.

Net, as she was affectionately called, accepted Christ in her life at an early age.  She joined the Good Hope Baptist Church where she was a devoted member and sang in the Voices of Hope choir.

Upon her graduation from R. L. Cousins High School in 1959, she attended the historical Apex School of Cosmetology where she received her certification as a Master Cosmetologist. On August 19, 1960, she was united in marriage to the late Ralph James Baker who preceded her in death in 2011. In this union they had one son, Spencer James Baker, Sr.

Net went on to open her own business as Net’s Beauty Salon, a business that she proudly owned and operated in Covington as a licensed professional cosmetologist for over 55 years.  Everyone knew her in the Covington, Newton County and surrounding areas.  She has styled and beautified generations of families, both female and male.  Net took so much pride in her work and she loved each of her clients dearly so much that she continued per passion until her health declined.

Net loved spending time with her family, and at every opportunity she would let them know just how proud she was to have them in her life.  She also loved going to church, cooking and baking her famous mouthwatering cakes for family and friends to enjoy.

On Thursday, July 6, 2017, God called Net “home to rest, and we wish her everlasting peace.
