Leon “Red” Lowry, of Covington, died December 14, 2008, at Atlanta Medical Center, at the age of 80. Son of the late Henry G. and Maude Warren Lowry, he was a retired truck driver. Mr. Lowry attended Calvary Baptist Church in Conyers and enjoyed helping and watching his sons and grandson race. Survivors include daughter, Valerie Harp of Covington; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Jenny Lowry of Covington, Andy and Jean Lowry of Conyers; grandchildren, Emily Lowry, Hayden Lowry, Robert Dickerson, Jeanna Dickerson, Brande Simpson, Tommy Craft, Brittany Harp, Kyle Lowry, Kelli Lowry, Jennifer Lester, Dallas Hollaway; great-grandchildren, Drew, Camryn, Jacob; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Lowry will be held Thursday, December 18, 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, with Rev. Tracy Puckett officiating and interment following in Eastview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, on Tuesday, December 16, from 6-9 PM and Wednesday, December 17, from 6-9 PM.
