Mr. John Marcus Cook, age 83, a lifelong resident of Covington passed away December 8, 2014. He was born in Monticello, Georgia on April 29, 1931 to the late Aubie Neal and Nellie Mae Hickman Cook. Mr. Cook was a mechanic and worked for Holbrook Farm Equipment in McDonough where he was employed for 33 years. He was a dedicated member of Stewart Baptist Church where he attended for over 50 years and served as a Deacon. Mr. Cook loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching trains and people and enjoyed the time that he spent with his best friend, Jerry Loyd. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Joyce Cook in 2009 along with several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children Marcia Burford (Lanier) of Jenkinsburg and John Morris “Whitey” Cook (Carolyn) of Covington, his four grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and his sister Emily Kelly.
Funeral services for Mr. Cook will be held at 2 o’clock, Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Stewart Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Jones and Pastor Jack Pickel officiating. Interment will follow at Stewart Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home from 7:00pm until 9:00pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2014.
