John A. Addison, of Covington, passed away Nov. 19, 2017, at 92 years of age.  Mr. Addison proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, working as a Radioman.  He graduated from Lavonia High School and then attended the University of Georgia.  During his working career he was Vice President of Manufacturing for Fulton Cotton Mill, as well as being employed by Georgie State Labor Department.  Mr. Addison married Ruth Dalton on July 24, 1954, and for most of his adult life, they lived on Brown Bridge Road in Covington.  John and Ruth were faithful members of the Otis Nixon Sunday School Class at Salem United Methodist Church. He was a great friend to the community and a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.  Known as a well-read man, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth (Dalton) Addison; parents, Coy and Edith (Reynolds) Addison.

Survivors include his son, John A. Addison, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Loveanne Addison of Clermont; grandchildren, Tyler and Emily Addison, Kyle Addison, all of Atlanta; brother, Fred L. Addison and wife, Sara Ann of Lilburn; niece, Laura Ellen Addison of Gainesville; his dear companion of the last decade, Maree Nelson of Monroe.

A Graveside Service for Mr. Addison will be held Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, 1 p.m., in Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, Covington, with Rev. Dr. Phil DeMore, Rev. Carol Standard, and Pastor Todd Hilton officiating.  Friends may visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 5 – 8 p.m.
