Joe Cartledge of Covington, passed away December 29, 2009, at the age of 76. Mr. Cartledge retired from Mobil Chemical after 20 years of employment. He enjoyed hunting, watching Wheel of Fortune, and loved going grocery shopping. On Saturday nights, Mr. Cartledge enjoyed spending time at the radio station, 92.3 FM, in Monroe. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Robby Neal Cartledge; parents, Thomas and Fairy Lokey Cartledge; sisters, Barbara Cook and Polly Rush. Survivors include his loving wife, Margie Cartledge; daughters, Terri Strange of Manchester, TN, Susan Daniel of Hillsboro, TN; son, Joe Cartledge, Jr., of Covington; step-children, Johnny Parker, Patsy and David Barr, Carol and Ernest Johnson, all of Covington, Shirley and Barry White of Loganville, Bonnie and Phil Malcom, Faye Qualls, Jimmy and Cathy Parker, all of Covington, Lonnie and Sherry Gilliam of Mansfield, James and Alison Brown of Covington; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Robert Bell of Covington; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Betty Cartledge of Covington, James and Kim Cartledge, Franklin and Norma Cartledge, all of Chester, SC, Roy and Margaret Cartledge, Jackie and Frances Cartledge, all of Covington; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Cartledge will be held Thursday, December 31, 2009, 2 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Rd., with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, December 30, from 6-8 PM.
