Mr. James Thomas (J. T.) Beasley of Sparta and originally from Oxford, ended his four-year battle with failing health Aug. 1 at his residence in the Powelton Community.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Myrtle Hodges Beasley; three sons, Ricky Joe Beasley and wife, Mary, of Newborn, Ronnie Beasley of Shady Dale, Donnie Beasley and wife, Merlene, of Mansfield; grandchildren, Christina Carter of Newborn, J.R. and wife, Misty, of Covington; extended family member, Nevach Armistead; and brother, Herbert Beasley of Covington. He was preceded in death by his great-grandson Jason James Beasley.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at the Powelton Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Bishop officiating.

The family will receive friends at the residence immediately following the service.
